New CrewBrain Update & Preview of the New Project & Job Dialog

Over the past few months, our team has been working behind the scenes on major changes and updates to one of the most central components of CrewBrain: the project and job dialog has been completely redesigned, and we were able to present the current state of development at ISE in Barcelona last week.

For those who were unable to make it to Barcelona, this update info contains a brief review and further information on the new project and job dialog at the end. We will be rolling out that new dialog gradually over the coming months. Until then, however, there is another important CrewBrain update tomorrow, the details of which we would like to present to you in this update info.

Statements & Time recording

As usual, there have been a number of changes, particularly in the area of statements and time recording. Comments can now be saved for individual workdays, and the calculation of short-term employment has been optimized.

Comments

Comments can now be added for each individual day in the time recording system. This allows you to document why overtime was worked, for example.

Short-term employment

For short-term employment, we have optimized the counting of days when employees switch between different types of employment (mini-job, short-term, and full-time) within a year. In this case, short-term days are now only calculated for the periods in which this type of employment actually existed.

API v2

Our API v2 is an important basis for the new project and job dialog mentioned at the beginning. Several important new endpoints have been added to this version as well.

Structure endpoints

An important element for all objects below jobs are the new /structure endpoints. These map the job structure including sub-objects (e.g., tasks, times, etc.), providing a quick overview of the information stored in the jobs and sub-jobs.

Travel expenses

Travel expense accounting can now also be controlled via the new API. In addition to the usual endpoints for creating, editing, and deleting, there are also endpoints for approving or paying travel expense reports.

Task management

There are also new API endpoints for task management. Among other things, it is now possible to control the import of tasks from other objects (e.g., jobs, task lists, etc.) via the API.

Documentation

As usual, all information about the new endpoints can be found in our API-Documentation.

Tenders

If a location or department is defined in projects and jobs, this information is now also transferred directly to the job postings. In this way, the employee list is automatically restricted to the respective location or department.

Calendar

The calendar is also optimized in almost every update. From now on, the times for external appointments are also displayed directly in the calendar, and when transferring external calendar appointments, not only a job but also a project can now be created directly.

New filters

Employee master data can now be filtered by access and user groups. This allows you to quickly find employees in specific groups or without access. In addition, the “expiring certificates” widget has been supplemented with a location filter that can be used to limit the results to a specific location.

Text templates

The text templates now also include placeholders for individual additional information about employees. This makes it possible to create even better text templates, for example for employment contracts, based on the data stored in the additional information.

The new project and job dialog at ISE

At Integrated Systems (ISE) in Barcelona, many of our customers got their first glimpse of the new project and job dialog. With a clear layout and optimized navigation, working with CrewBrain will be much faster and easier in the future.

New structure

The new dialog uses a new screen layout. It opens automatically in full screen mode and permanently displays the project and job structure on the right-hand side for quick navigation and switching between the individual elements of a project.

Planning views

One of the most important components of the new dialog are the planning views. We have developed these from scratch and will be able to offer many features that our customers have long desired. For example, it will now be possible to change the working hours of employees and freelancers directly from the planning views using drag & drop.

Rollout

Due to the wide range of functions, the rollout of the new dialog will take place in stages. Over the coming weeks and months, users will be able to activate the new dialog individually in the form of a beta function and test it. Access to the old dialog will still be possible, and some special functions that are not yet available in the new dialog may still need to be performed in the old dialog. There is an option for quickly switching between the new and old dialogs.

Feedback

We would of course welcome feedback on the new dialog. As soon as the dialog is available to the first users, we will also provide information about the relevant feedback channels so that we can collate feedback from all users and process it promptly.
